The ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute organised a Seminar-cum-Book Launch on 16 January 2017. The event provided an opportunity for the author of the book The Veil of Circumstance: Technology, Values, Dehumanization and the Future of Economics and Politics, Ambassador Jørgen Ørstrøm Møller, Visiting Senior Fellow at ISEAS, to introduce the main themes of his book. The EU Centre is pleased to highlight a Distinguished Public Lecture jointly organized by the Centre for Family and Population Research (CFPR) and the Global Asia Institute (GAI), National University of Singapore (NUS) on Family & Population by Professor Mary Briton from Havard University. It will be held on 19 January 2017 from 9.30am to 12pm at Shaw Foundation Alumni House. The topic of the Public Lecture is on Postindustrial Low Fertility in Europe and East Asia: Lessons for Singapore, and the Guest-of-Honour for the event is Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport. The EU Delegation Office in Singapore organised its annual Human Rights Conference on 9th December to mark International Human Rights (which falls on 10 December). This year’s Conference was focused on the topic of Freedom of Religion or Belief. In the panel on Freedom of Religion and Free Speech which was moderated by Dr Yeo Lay Hwee, Director of the EU Centre, Dr Yeo raised a number of questions in her introductory remarks.
