Seminar on 25 November 2009
The EU Centre’s Senior Fellow Assoc Prof Barnard Turner was invited by Tampines Junior College (TPJC) to give an overview of the European Union as it prepares for the 21st century. The talk aimed to establish the significance of the European Union regionally and internationally. It covered three main areas: a historical overview of European integration, a brief account of the EU’s major institutions, and a discussion of individual topics that TPJC students were learning about. These included liveable cities, human trafficking and water security. Some thirty or so students were about to embark on a study trip to Brussels and Aachen. The talk aimed to provide some useful background information for them as well.
